OOWEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH

Listen to this while reading: Doctor Who

Whovians take warning: this post may cause drooling, crying, and/or extreme and uncontrollable fits of emotion.

I just had the ULTIMATE Doctor Who experience in the fantastic city of Cardiff!

Geography 101: Cardiff is the capital of Wales which is a country in the United Kingdom. No, it is not England. Do not confuse it with England. It is on the left side of England on the west coast of the UK. Yes. Prince William is the Prince of Wales.

Cardiff is also where they do most of the filming for the BBC TV show, Doctor Who.

For those who do not know Doctor Who, it is about a one thousand year old alien from Gallifrey that travels through all of time and space in his blue box saving planets and galaxies.

They’ve created a building for all things Doctor Who.

I’m staying with my aunt while I’m here, and we went to the Doctor Who Experience. The first part was an interactive show where you walk through the crack. The Crack! You then have to help the Doctor, who has been trapped in the Pandorica II. You hop into the TARDIS where you are then captured by daleks that plan to exterminate you. But you are saved by a group of rogue daleks that are fighting for superiority. You then run through a dark scary section surrounded by weeping angels and you don’t blink for your life depends on it. You release the Doctor from the Pandorica II, but not without messing up time and space. A pair of glasses are handed to you to protect your eyes from the radiation leakage as you are sucked into the time vortex. Daleks and weeping angels grab at you but the Doctor saves you in the end! Afterwards, you walk into a FANTASTIC exhibition of props and costumes of Doctor Who.

They had a lovely set up for the most recent Doctor, Matt Smith.

After the exhibition, we were taken on a walking tour around Cardiff to see the various filming sights for Doctor Who. See if you can guess each one. Click here for the answers.

The next day, my aunt to me to see Castell Coch (sounds like Castle Ko) which is where they shot scenes for the episode "A Nightmare in Silver”

I have more places, but I'm too lazy to put them up

After the walk, we were taken to the BBC studio where they film Doctor Who.

We were very fortunate, because most people do not get to do this. But BBC has just finished filming the 50th anniversary episode and is taking a one month break before filming the Christmas special. So we were able to walk into the TARDIS.

That’s right, Whovians.

I. WALKED. INTO. THE. TARDIS.

Unlike the last few TARDIS designs, which were half-sets, the latest TARDIS is a full set so you can’t see outside when you’re inside.

We took pictures outside the door. The actual door that you see on television!

And then our guide opened the doors.

I will never be able to explain how incredible it is to walk into the TARDIS. It is pure magic. It’s like finding the end of a rainbow and discovering a pot of gold. It’s like waking up and finding out you have a brand new grand piano. It’s like finding out you are of royal blood and now have money to spare. It’s like becoming friends with Jan Lisiecki.

It’s all that and more.

Seeing the interior of the TARDIS on television is absolutely beautiful. But that moment, when you are physically standing there and all you need to do is simply reach out and touch the console, see all the detail…it was utterly surreal and one of the best moments of my life.

If anyone is into photoshop, can you PLEASE remove that horrid man destroying my picture?
